Artist Biography

Miguel Ochoa is a 2D animator from San Francisco, where he grew up along with seven other siblings. The art of animation has always been a crucial aspect of Miguel’s life, admiring the work of animation artists from a young age, hoping to one day do the same. Miguel’s art has always aimed to explore a sense of wonder and escapism, a feeling of playfulness we sometimes lose as we grow up. Miguel is always willing to grow in the pursuit of his animation dream job. Even though he may be far from family he devotes himself to his work at California State University Northridge.

Here he has become proficient in software like Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Animate cc, Toon Boom Harmony, and even expanding his knowledge out of his field with software like Maya. At CSU Northridge Miguel has kept a solid work ethic for himself, shown by his Dean’s List Award every semester. When a part of a four person production team Miguel picked up a bulk of work in animation, background layout, editing, and compositing. Even when the other members did not meet deadlines Miguel was ready to composite the work at any given moment, keeping production on schedule. He has even worked outside of standard academics to join a workshop team that created an End of the Year Showcase winning stop motion short. Miguel is currently compositing as an intern for a CSUN theater project and hopes that this work will bring him the experience to take on future challenges.
